Our charity partner is looking for volunteers

Posted on: November 7th, 2015

One of our charity partners, Body & Soul, are looking for volunteers.  Here’s some information from them:

At Body & Soul we run age-appropriate weekly support services for people living with or closely affected by HIV.  Due to increasing need we are expanding our services and launching a new fortnightly support service for Young Adults (19 – 30) and Children (0 – 9) that will run in addition to our weekly Tuesday evenings.

The members at Body & Soul can access a range of services specifically tailored to providing support around improving and maintaining physical and mental health, psycho-social wellbeing, practical support and opportunities for a successful and productive future. Services are delivered through 1:1, family, small group, and larger group interventions.

Volunteers are at the forefront of Body & Soul. Our award-winning volunteer team’s skills, energy, ideas and sheer numbers all allows us to deliver consistent excellence in support to people living with HIV.  With the launch of new services we are on the lookout for new volunteers to join our team!

Our volunteers help to build members’ capacity through facilitating and supporting situation-specific courses such as IT, job searching and employment support nutritional advice and parenting skills. Some volunteers come equipped with experience in these areas or a skill such as photography or dance that they can share with our members. Others are good at building strong relationships and supporting members on a one-to-one basis, either face-to-face or over the phone.

We are looking for volunteers to help us deliver support sessions for our Young Adults (19 – 30) and Children (0 – 9). You will be given an exciting and dynamic opportunity and you will play a key role in contributing to ideas for workshops and feeding back observations about individual needs and development.
